Cuvée Lunae is born
Brut Metodo Classico Millesimato exists between earth, time, moon and tides
There is a newborn at LVNAE: a Brut Metodo Classico, vintage 2018, cuvée blend of Vermentino and Albarola. It is called Cuvée Lunae. A challenge for the Bosoni family who want to exalt another soul of the Colli di Luni in this sparkling wine. Diego Bosoni explains: “Cuvée Lunae is the realization of a dream that has been with us for more than a generation: to create a classic method sparkling wine with traditional vines capable of expressing our territory through its own language”. The elements that make this project unique, beyond its territorial identity, are four: earth, time, moon and tides. Bosoni continues, “Earth, because transforming dreams into matter is the constant prerogative of those who have decided to cultivate the land while keeping their eyes turned towards the sky …” Time, because a Classic Method is a creative and technical process in which ” the value of time is a key factor “. The Moon, which has always marked the seasons of work in the vineyard, “is above all a tribute to the history of our land and to its name: a place between mountains of white marble and the sea, where high quality wine was already produced in Roman times “. And finally, the Tides. “The foam of the sea that touches our coasts is an evocative call and inspiration to obtain a delicate and frothy perlage that could be a direct reference to these poetic suggestions”. Albarola and Vermentino come from suitable vineyards located between the hills of Castelnuovo Magra and the Ligurian Sea. Albarola contributes by bringing acidity and flavor, while Vermentino characterizes the blend thanks to its typical aromatic complexity and territorial imprint of freshness and verticality. Cuvée Lunae ages in bottle on its lees for at least 26 months before disgorgement. “Sparkling winemaking is both technique and art”, remarks Diego Bosoni, now the fourth generation of the property, “and the intent is to create a contemporary Classic Method that is above all consistent with the style of our cellar”. For this inaugural year, the technical choices, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, aimed at obtaining the maximum expression of the qualitative potential, have produced approximately 5000 bottles.
